2011 Game Scenario
Back Story
The flooding began in Spring 2011 with the highest rainfall on record in history. It has wiped out 85% of America’s number one export – agriculture. Without agriculture, the US dollar has become worthless. The most valuable resources are now platinum, gold, and bronze. Each resource buys different items necessary for survival.
A year later, it is now the Spring of 2012 and the flooding is still rampant. The banks of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers have over flown, causing the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul to be separated. The State and Federal government has collapsed, and the Twin Cities are operating only at a municipal level. Mayor Rybak has assumed control over Minneapolis, and Governor Dayton has taken control of St. Paul.
Mayor Rybak has set up headquarters at the 9th District Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, while Governor Dayton is stationed at the state capital in St. Paul.
The 9th District Reserve of Minneapolis has an abundance of gold, but needs to accumulate bronze and platinum. The only problem is that the bronze is located halfway between Minneapolis and St. Paul, and the supply of platinum is stored at the 3M center – in St. Paul’s territory.
St. Paul, on the other hand, has a cache of platinum in their territory, particularly at the 3M center but a deficit of gold and bronze. Each city must gather as much of these valuable resources as possible to purchase food and necessities.
